Find out how smells can lower stress.
Did you know that the olfactory system is one of the most beneficial ways to get into our brains?
Firstly, what the heck is the olfactory system?
And how does it get into our brains?
The olfactory system, or sense of smell, is the part of the sensory system used for smelling (olfaction).
'It’s thought that the significant effects of smell on the brain are a relic of the life-and-death importance that smell had for early man. Those smell cells in the nose are linked to the limbic system - which in evolutionary terms is among the oldest parts of the brain - which governs emotions, behaviour and long-term memory.' (1)
So what are the best 'smells' we can have to reduce anxiety and stress?
